What sailing qualifications do I need to charter a sailboat in Croatia?

How do I find your base?
- Marina Kastela is located 7 km from the Split airport. You can reach us by Taxi or Bus.
- We can organize the transfer for you and the crew that will bring you directly in front of our office. Just please contact us and ask for transfer.
- Buses from airport (in Split direction) pass every 20 minutes and they stop near the entrance to the Marina.
- Our office is located on the LUA pier- separate from others, with its own (eastern) entrance, located right across Restaurant Bimbijana.
- Marina Kastela can be easily reached from several exits on Dalmatina Highway. It is located on the sea road between Trogir and Split.
- You will find our office when you go through our own (eastern) entrance, located right across Restaurant Bimbijana, on the LUA pier.
Where can I park my car?
There are parking places next to our boats allowing you to easily transfer all your luggage and provisions from the car on board in one fell swoop. Parking is constantly guarded by Marina Kastela employees to whom you pay your parking to.
Where can I leave my luggage?
In case of earlier arrival or later departure you can leave your luggage in our office. It is safe and part of our service. This frees you to relax and maybe going for some sightseeing while waiting for your boat or flight.
Is earlier check in possible?
Yes, as we pride ourselves with our care for the guests, majority of our check in are usually done before 5 PM. Thanks to our one design fleet we can easily help the guest with early check without additional early check in fees.
When do I need to return the boat back into a base?
Generally we ask, but it’s not obligatory, our guests to return in base by late Friday afternoon so that the boat can be checked and inspected. You are, off course, able to sleep on board and leave the boat on Saturday by 9AM. For our regatta charter we ask that the boats return back to our base on Friday by 6 PM to ease the checkout procedure. Guests are, naturally, welcome to stay onboard till Saturday by 9AM.
Which payment methods are acceptable in the base?
We accept payments in Kunas, Euros and all major credit or debit cards. In our office you will have to pay for several extras such as tourist tax or transit log. While majority of extras can be paid by card tourist tax (7Kn per person per day) has to be paid in cash (Kunas) so please prepare cash.
How do I leave safety deposit?
Safety deposit can be left in cash (Euros or Kunas) or by Card. We do not take money of your card we only reserve the amount which is released upon return..
Can I insure the deposit amount?
We are partners with Yachtpool insurance which allows us to insure the deposit amount. During the check in procedure we are able to issue an insurance policy. For the prices of the insurance please contact us.
Do I need skippers insurance?
Skippers insurance is not mandatory for you to have to charter our boat but we recommend you have one. Having one does not release you from leaving the deposit and paying for your damages on your boats however we will assist you with invoices, photos and all other details you will need for your insurance claim
May I hire a skipper, hostess or a cook?
Yes. If you need any assistance in this regard, we can provide you with an experienced crew. His services cost approximately 130 EUR per day. You are obliged to provide accommodation and board for a skipper throughout the duration of the cruise.
Are there additional safety precautions to take children on board?
Children are perfectly safe on board as long there is a constant adult supervision and mandatory observation of all safety regulations. We recommend telling us in advance there are young children on board so we can provide appropriate life jackets and we recommend installing a safety net on a handrail all around the deck perimeter. A safety net could be provided for a surcharge and must be requested in advance. Life-vest for children should be used, especially in bad weather conditions.
Where can we get Weather forecast?
Weather forecast is available at any Marina Reception. Also over the VHF it is broadcast 3 times a day on various channels.
Is there WiFi available on board?
All of our boats are WiFi equipped. At any moment up to 5 devices can hook up to the router which can be used for fee of 25€ for 6GB per week.
Can we bring pets on board?
Pets are welcomed on majority of our boats for an extra cleaning fee. Only our Luxury line boats (Oceanis 58 and Hanse 575) are excluded from this policy and pets are, unfortunately, never allowed on them due to possible damages.
Am I allowed to dive in Croatia?
Croatia is beautiful country with a lot to see including underwater. Snorkeling is always fun way to spend the day. We do not offer snorkeling equipment so please bring your own or plan on purchasing one here. Scuba diving is allowed with some restrictions. How do I get a valid Croatian Fishing license?
Croatia offers two different kinds of fishing licenses: recreational and sports fishing. A fishing license is required whether you fish from the shore or from the boat. You may purchase the license on line at the ministry site: http://www.mps.hr/ribarstvo/default.aspx?id=425 Licenses are issued for a various periods of time and all one needs is their Passport or ID and the credit card.
